Honolulu, HI- The Swords were involved in another competitive, hard-fought five game affair tonight in McCabe Gym. This time the score didn't go their way, losing by the closest of margins in five games, 25-12, 23-25, 13-25, 25-18, 14-16 to the Panthers of Adelphi. The fifth in final game was back and forth with multiple lead changes in the race to victory.
Freshman Whitney Vivieros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) put in her second strong performance in as many nights with another double-double, collecting 13 kills to go along with 21 digs. Senior Courtney Lorusso added 17 kills and 17 digs for the Swords.
Junior setter Tanya Alvino had 42 assists and 13 digs for CUH.
Chaminade out-dug Adelphi 82-79. The Panthers won the hitting battle, .176 to .160.
The Panthers were led by freshman Emily Dorko with 14 kills. Heather Mau (Honolulu, HI/Maryknoll) led the Panthers with 39 assists.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 1-1. Adelphi improves to 1-1. The Swords are back in action tomorrow night at 7PM to face Montana State-Billings. The match will be played in McCabe Gym.
