Belmont, CA- The Swords fell to NDNU in five games this evening in the second of five matches in the Bay Area over the next seven days. Chaminade took game one 25-23, lost game two 17-25, won game three 25-14, and then lost the last two, 23-25 and 8-15.
The Swords showed flashes of brilliance, especially in game three, dominating 25-14, hitting a red-hot .567 for the game.
Chauntelle Maduli (Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) was stellar, finishing with 15 kills and 14 digs on the match for the Swords.
Freshman
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) added 12 kills and 18 digs. Freshman
Kylee Pedro (Honolulu, HI/Mid-Pacific) had 8 kills and 11 digs for CUH.
Junior setter
Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 46 assists and 9 digs for Chaminade.
The defensive battle was a Chaminade win with the Swords up 70-65. Team blocks went to CUH 8.5 to 4.
NDNU were led by Caitlin Torres with 15 kills. Joanna Gresh led the Argos with 24 assists.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 1-13. NDNU improves to 5-13. The Swords are back in action on Oct. 2nd against Dominican. First serve is set for 7:00 PM PT in San Rafael, CA (Conlan Center).
