San Francisco, CA- The Swords are headed back home. In the fourth and final match of the California Clash tournament for Chaminade, the Swords fell to San Francisco State in four games, 23-25, 11-25, 25-14, 11-25.
The match was close statistically as SFSU won digs 48-41 and blocks 7-6. Senior Courtney Lorusso (Los Angeles, CA/Glendora) led the way with 13 kills, while Whitney Vivieros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) added 9 kills and 12 digs for CUH.
Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) added 33 assists for Chaminade. Sophomore Malilimago Toailoa (Waikaloa, HI/Kealakehe) had 9 kills and a .273 hitting percentage in the match.
The Swords went the way their hitting percentage did tonight in California. Game one and three, Chaminade hit above 30% and split those games 1-1 with SFSU. In games two and four, both 25-11 defeats, the Swords had negative hitting percentages.
The Swords move to 1-6 on the year with the loss. San Francisco State improves to 7-1. Chaminade is back in action on September 10th in the Equus Challenge. They are set to face University of Alaska at 7 PM HT in McCabe Gym. BoxScore.htm
