Honolulu, HI- The North Shore vs. South Shore battle is tied up at 1-1.  After a Chaminade victory over the Seasiders in December, BYU-Hawaii claimed one for their side tonight, getting an 80-74 victory in McCabe Gym.

The game was tight throughout, as the Seasiders nine point halftime lead was not an indicator of play in the opening twenty minutes as the teams battled back and forth.  A three by Rory Patterson to open up the second half gave the Seasiders a twelve point lead, but Chaminade came roaring back.  The Swords, led by the point guard play of Steven Bennett, took a five point lead with less than ten minutes left in the contest.

The game was a seesaw battle the rest of the way, but the Seasiders Anthony Reilly knocked down late game free throws (8-9) to seal the 80-74 victory.

Junior Steven Bennett scored 19 points, connecting on 3 three's while adding 6 assists. Chandler Pearson nearly had a double-double for the Swords, finishing with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

The Chaminade big men battled all night against BYU-H. Junior Shane Hanson tallied 17 points and 8 rebounds, knocking down five threes.  Matt Cousins scored 17 points and added 7 rebounds on the evening.

Freshman Waly Coulibaly added 12 points and 5 rebounds, going 4-8 from three on the night.

The Swords shot 39% from the floor and 39% from three on the evening.  Chaminade and BYU Hawaii tied the rebounding battle 39-39.

Anthony Reilly and Lucas Alves both had 15 points for the Seasiders in the win.

Chaminade falls to 5-9 on the year, 2-3 in the Pac West. BYU-Hawaii moves to 9-5, 3-2 in Pac West play.  The Swords are back in action vs. Notre Dame de Namur on February 3rd.  Game time is set for 7:30 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
