St. George, UT- Chaminade nearly pulled off another thrilling five set road victory this evening before falling to Dixie State in five sets. CUH looked like they were set for a potential three set win after winning the first two of the night, but Dixie roared back to take three sets in a row for a 3-2 victory.
The Swords and Red Storm played a match that took over two hours to decide, but Chaminade just missed on a second-in-a-row conference win in five sets, falling to Dixie State tonight in front of a crowd of 134 by a score of: 25-22, 27-25, 23-25, 12-25, 12-15.
CUH junior Poerava Gantt (Kapaa, HI/Kapaa) had 14 kills and 26 digs in another solid outing. Junior Allie Board (Redwood City, CA/Notre Dame) led with 15 kills, hitting a team leading .237 on the match. Sophomore Kylee Pedro (Kailua, HI/Mid-Pacific) had 12 kills for the Swords.
Senior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 51 assists and 19 digs running the Chaminade attack.
Junior Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) had her second match in three nights digging 30 attacks in another five set conference showdown. The Swords won another amazing dig battle 121-116.
Chaminade lost the battle of hitting percentage for the night, .088 to .157. Team blocks went to Dixie State 15-10.
Dixie State was led by Madisyn Fitzgerald with 20 kills.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 4-9, 1-5 in the PWC. Dixie State moves to 9-6, 4-3 in the PWC. The Swords are back in action in St. George, UT on Tuesday, October 12th at 7:00 PM MT against Dixie State.
