CUH WVB: NDNU Defeats Chaminade in Four Sets

Gantt, Pedro each have 9 kills to lead Chaminade

HONOLULU, HI- The Swords fell to NDNU in four sets tonight (12-25, 15-25, 25-22 and 22-25) tonight in Pac West Conference action at McCabe Gym. The Argonauts win now puts Chaminade and NDNU in a tie for seventh place in the conference at 3-9.  
                                                                                                     
The Swords got off to a slow start in the first two sets, managing only 14 kills and falling behind to the Argos two sets to zero. Chaminade rallied in the third set, earning a 25-22 victory, winning some tough rallies and garnering 13 kills in the third set. 
 
The fourth and final set was a competitive one and Chaminade's best statistically on offense, hitting .200 for the set. NDNU matched the offensive productivity and went higher, hitting .308 in the fourth and final set, a 25-22 Argo win.
 
CUH was led by sophomore Kylee Pedro (Kailua, HI/Mid-Pacific) and junior Poerava Gantt (Kapaa, HI/Kapaa) with 9 kills each. Senior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 32 assists and 12 digs in the win.
 
Defensively, junior Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) added 26 digs, while sophomore Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) added 12 digs on the match.     
 
The Argonauts out-hit the Swords .206 to .099. Chaminade and NDNU both had 8 total team blocks. CUH lost the dig battle 79-82.     
 
NDNU was led by Christina Villamayor with 18 kills.  
 
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 6-13, 3-9 in the PWC. NDNU moves to 5-14, 3-9 in the PWC. The Swords next face Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:00 PM HT at McCabe Gym.
