CUH MS: Swords Lose Tussle with HPU 4-2

Sea Warriors get two goals late to break open tight match

Hayes Sperry makes a save in earlier action
Honolulu, HI- The Silverswords lost a back and forth match with HPU this morning in the Pac West conference opener for both teams.   
 
HPU led early, getting a goal from Richard Guffens in the 5th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Silverswords answered eleven minutes later as Michael Marrs (Wailuku, HI/Baldwin) got the scoring going in the 16th minute with a goal off an assist from Esteban Rodriguez (San Antonio, TX/Clark). Marrs added another in the 27th minute off an assist from sophomore Jon Fukumoto (Mililani, HI/Mililani) and took a 2-1 lead into the break. 
 
The momentum shifted in the 56th minute, as a foul in the box led to a penalty kick goal by HPU's George Forchive to tie the match at 2-2. The score remained that way until the 78th minute when Chance Bukoski scored the game-winner for the Sea Warriors. Bukoski added another in the 89th minute for a 4-2 final.   
 
Freshman goalkeeper Hayes Sperry (Gulfbreeze, FL/Gulfbreeze) stopped ten shots in defeat.  The Swords were out-shot 24-6.  
 
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 1-2.  Hawaii Pacific moves to 2-1. Chaminade is set to play at BYU-Hawaii on September 21st. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM HT.
