Honolulu, HI- The Silverswords competed in their conference road opener and nearly came out with a hard-earned road victory. Facing the Seasiders in Laie, Chaminade got on the board in the 26
th minute on a goal by sophomore
Kyle Suan (Mililani, HI/Mililani) and for the second time in as many matches, took a one goal lead into halftime. This time, the Swords led BYU-Hawaii 1-0.
Chaminade held the one goal lead until the 84th minute, as BYU-Hawaii's Viktor Bezhani scored on a penalty to knot the match at 1-1. The match headed to overtime at 1-1. Three minutes into overtime Bezhani did it again, knocking in another penalty for the 2-1 Seasiders victory.
Freshman goalkeeper
Hayes Sperry (Gulfbreeze, FL/Gulfbreeze) stopped seven shots in defeat. The Swords were out-shot 21-8. Chaminade was booked for three yellow cards in defeat.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 1-3. BYU-Hawaii moves to 2-2. Chaminade is set to play at home against Academy of Art on September 29th. Kickoff is set for 10:00 AM HT.
