CUH WVB: Swords Fall to Cross-Town Rival HPU in Four Sets

Powell leads Chaminade with 10 kills, 14 digs

HONOLULU, HI- The Swords lost a four set Pac West Conference match tonight with Hawaii Pacific at St. Andrew's Priory.  The Swords were defeated by the Sea Warriors 18-25, 25-21, 13-25 and 13-25.
 
After falling in the first set, Chaminade responded by winning the second set 25-21, outhitting Hawaii Pacific .114 to .103 to tie the match at one set apiece.  HPU answered by taking the third and fourth sets by identical scores of 25-13 to earn the victory.
 
Sophomore Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) led the way for CUH with 10 kills and 14 digs.  Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) added 13 digs in defeat.
 
Senior setter Kristina Donathan (Honolulu, HI/St. Andrew's Priory) contributed 22 assists and 12 digs for Chaminade.
 
The Swords lost the defensive battle with 57 digs, while HPU had 66.  Hawaii Pacific had 12 blocks while Chaminade had 4 blocks for the match.   
 
The Sea Warriors were led by Natasha Bell with 13 kills.
 
The Swords fall to 2-10 (1-5 PWC) with the loss. The Sea Warriors move to 9-5 (4-1 in PWC).  Chaminade next match is a rematch with HPU on October 5th. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
