CUH WVB: Swords Stumble at Cal Baptist, Lose in Three

Viveiros leads Chaminade with 7 kills, 6 digs

RIVERSIDE, CA- The Swords lost a three set Pac West Conference match tonight with Cal Baptist at Van Dyne Gym on the CBU campus.  The Swords were defeated by the Lancers by scores of: 19-25, 8-25, 15-25.
 
The Swords were competitive in the first set, down 23-19 late in the set before two Ingrid Carmona kills ended the set for CBU, 25-19.  The Swords hit .200 in the first set, but Cal Baptist was even better at .464.    
 
Chaminade struggled in the final two sets, unable to get going offensively, hitting -.071 and .059 in the second and third sets respectively.  For the match, CBU hit .337 to Chaminade's .065.    
 
Junior Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) led the way 7 kills and 6 digs in defeat for CUH.  Senior setter Kristina Donathan (Honolulu, HI/St. Andrew's Priory) added 16 assists and 7 digs for Chaminade. 
 
The Swords were out-dug by Cal Baptist as Chaminade had 37 digs to CBU's 47.  The Lancers had 7 blocks while Chaminade had 2 blocks for the match. 
 
CBU was led by Ingrid Carmona with 16 kills.
 
The Swords fall to 2-12 (1-7 PWC) with the loss. The Lancers move to 11-8 (4-4 in PWC).  Chaminade's looks to rebound at Cal Baptist tomorrow, October 15th.  First serve is set for 7 PM PT.
