CUH MSOC: Chaminade Drops Match with Dixie State 1-0

Pena impressive in goal for Swords

HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade Men's Soccer took on Dixie State this afternoon at St. Louis Field and fell in a 1-0 defeat.  The start of play saw a goal by Dixie's Francisco Rivero in the 14th minute of action.    
 
Back and forth continued throughout the first half of this Pac West Conference affair, but no one found the back of the net and the match went to half 1-0 Red Storm.
 
The second forty-five minutes saw more great Pac West action.  The fans added some energy to the match as the action went back and forth to start of the second half.  The first twenty-plus minutes of action saw no goals scored.  Dixie owned most of the possession the ball, but Chaminade creating opportunities as well.  The Red Storm continued to press, but CUH held their own, and the game ended 1-0.
 
Freshman goalkeeper, Jose Miguel Pena (Santiago, Chile/St. George's) was impressive in goal for Chaminade, stopping 9 shots in defeat and denying several near-goals.   
 
Nyle Ortiz led the way for the Red Storm with 5 shots on the match.  Dixie State outshot CUH 21-5.    
 
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 0-13-1, 0-9 and Dixie State moves to 8-4-2, 7-1.  The Swords are back in action October 26th at UH-Hilo at 3:00 PM HT.
