SAN RAFAEL, CA- The Swords defeated the Penguins of Dominican tonight 69-47 in Pac West Conference action.
The Swords took a twenty point lead at the half, 39-19 mark and kept the difference throughout for the win.
The Swords got very good guard play as junior De'Andre Haskins (Long Beach, CA/Jordan) tallied 14 points and 6 steals, while senior Steven Bennett (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey) added 14 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds. Junior Chris Curtis (Tustin, CA/Tustin) added 14 points in the win.
Junior center Mamadou Diarra (Bamako, Mali/Stoneridge) added 14 points and 6 rebounds, shooting an impressive 7-9 from the floor. Chaminade out-rebounded the Penguins 34-25.
Rashaad Ubah (Riverside, CA/King) added 5 rebounds as the Swords held Dominican to 47 points. Junior Matt Cousins (Santa Rosa, CA/Cardinal Newman) added 9 points and 3 rebounds in the victory.
Eight Swords scored in the victory.
Killian Larson led the Penguins with 14 points.
The Swords currently ranked #5 in the latest NCAA West Region Poll, move to 17-7, 10-2 in the Pac West. Dominican falls to 3-21, 3-11 in conference. Chaminade faces HPU at McCabe Gym on Friday, Feb. 25th at 7:30 PM HT.
