CUH MSOC: Chaminade Loses Back and Forth Match with Dominican 1-0

Soto leads with four shots for Swords

SAN RAFAEL, CA- Chaminade Men's Soccer dropped a heartbreaker to the Penguins of Dominican today 1-0.

The Swords were able to create chances early on, but were unable to capitalize in the Pac West Conference showdown.  The match went to the half at 0-0.

The second half was more competitive soccer with Dominican tallying the first and only goal in the 75th minute.  The Penguins David Mendez was credited with the goal and Rafael Garcia added the assist.  Chaminade had opportunities of their own throughout the match, but were unable to convert.

Coach Jason Higgins summed the afternoon up: “We played well.  We had many more chances this match….  three or four legitimate chances to score.  Right now we are just struggling to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Uriel Soto (Dallas, TX/Duncanville) led Chaminade with four shots.  The Swords and Penguins each had 7 shots on the match.

Freshman goalkeeper, Jose Miguel Pena (Santiago, Chile/St. George's) had 2 saves for the match.

With the loss, Chaminade moves to 0-8-1, 0-4 and Dominican moves to 1-7, 1-3.  The Swords are back in action on October 1st at 4:00 PM HT at Academy of Art.
