Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Silverswords lost to a tough Cal Baptist team in three sets, 20-25, 18-25 and 13-25.
The Swords fell behind early, trailing 7-2, but following a kill by
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) , CUH had rallied back to tie the first set at 13 all. The Lancers responded to the Chaminade spurt and earned a 25-20 first set victory. The second set was strongly contest by the Silverswords as well, as a kill by freshman
Lexis Evans (Phoenix, AZ/North) cut the CBU lead to one at 9-8 early on. Cal Baptist responded with a 7-1 run to pull away and take the set 25-18.
Chaminade fell 13-25 in the third set to drop the PacWest Conference matchup.
Viveiros led the way for the second night in a row with 9 kills, while freshman
Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) added 6 kills in the loss.
CUH hit .009 on the match, while CBU hit .257. Sophomore
Brenda Walker (Honolulu, HI/McKinley) led Chaminade with 10 digs. The Lancers out-dug the Swords, 52-44.
California Baptist was led by Ingrid Carmona with 10 kills.
The Swords fall to 6-12, 3-7 PWC with the defeat. Cal Baptist moves to 15-2, 8-0 PWC. Chaminade looks to bounce back on Saturday night as the Swords take on Azusa Pacific in McCabe Gym. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT.
