CUH MSOC: Swords Draw Hotly-Contested Battle with HPU 0-0 in OT

Knox impressive in goal with 13 saves

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade took on cross-town rival HPU, this time on St. Louis Soccer Field and earned a tough draw with the Sea Warriors 0-0 in overtime.   
 
The first half was a physical battle, as HPU created more chances, but Chaminade showed promise looking to counter-attack against the Sea Warriors.  Hawaii Pacific out-shot the Swords 12-1 at halftime.  Junior Conor Knox (O'Fallon, IL / O'Fallon Township) made several key saves in the first half to deny HPU and keep the contest 0-0 at the break. 
 
The Sea Warriors continued to press in the second half, but Chaminade's defense held tough, denying HPU's scoring opportunities.  The score remained 0-0 through 90 minutes of action. 
 
The score remained 0-0 after twenty minutes of overtime as two tired teams continued to compete.
 
The shot total was to HPU's advantage, 27-3. 
 
Conor Knox was stellar in goal for Chaminade making 13 saves for CUH.  
 
Coach Higgins expressed his satisfaction with the draw: “A historical result for the Chaminade program against the 2011 PacWest Champs. A monumental effort by the team and a lot of credit to the players ability to overcome all the injuries and get a tie today.”

With the draw, Chaminade moves to (2-8-2, 2-6-2 PWC). HPU goes to (5-5-2, 5-2-2 PWC).  Chaminade is back in action at UH-Hilo on October 20th. The match is set for 12:30 PM HT.
