CUH MSOC: Swords Drop Contest to Dominican (CA) 5-2

Gallt, Tomita tally goals for Chaminade

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade dropped a tough home match against the Penguins of Dominican (CA) 5-2 in PacWest Conference action.
 
Chaminade got on the board early as a corner kick by Jose Carranza (Winnetaa, CA/Canoga Park) was put away with a header by senior Keegan Tomita (Mercer Island, WA/Mercer Island) to lead 1-0 just over three minutes in.  Chaminade struck again in the 8th minute as sophomore Nika Sandadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/ Archbishop Riordan) found freshman Colton Gallt (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield South) and Gallt did the rest to give CUH a 2-0 lead early on, controlling the action.  Dominican responded in the 34th minute with a goal by Kolby Mitnick to cut the Silverswords lead in half to 2-1.
 
Swords freshman backup goalkeeper Tom Higgins (Wakefield, RI/ South Kingstown) was impressive in the first half, stopping 8 shots in the opening forty-five minutes.  Chaminade led at the break 2-1.    
 
Dominican (CA) tallied the tying goal in the 49th minute to knot the score at 2-2.  Pedro Guevara scored the goal for the Penguins.  DUC added a goal in the 61st minute to take a 3-2 lead.  Guevara's 2nd goal, in the 69th minute made the score 4-2 Penguins.  The Penguins tallied their fifth goal in the 83rd minute to lead 5-2.  DUC won with a 5-2 final score.
 
Tomita led CUH with four shots. Thomas Higgins made 11 saves for CUH.  
 
With the loss, Chaminade falls to (2-9-3, 2-7-3 PWC). Dominican (CA) improves to (8-7, 4-7 PWC).  Chaminade is back in action vs. Academy of Art on October 30th. The match is set for 10:00 AM HT.
