CUH WVB: Swords Drop Match to Holy Names 3-1

Viveiros leads Chaminade with double-double (22 kills and 19 digs)

Box Score OAKLAND, CA- Chaminade ran into a tough Hawks of Holy Names team tonight and fell in four sets: (23-25, 17-25, 25-22 and 28-30).  
 
Chaminade was competitive throughout, nearly forcing a fifth and deciding fifth set, but couldn't get it done, dropping the fourth set 28-30.
 
Holy Names out-hit Chaminade .253 to .164, while the Swords out-dug HNU 73-65.  The Hawks won the blocking battle, 13-3.
 
Senior Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) continued her strong road trip, leading Chaminade with 22 kills to go along with 19 digs.  Junior Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) added 11 kills, while Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/ Robertson) contributed 32 assists.
 
Freshman Brenda Walker (Honolulu HI/ McKinley) led Chaminade with 23 digs.

Coach Kabalis commented: "We weren't fully loaded tonight.  We were forced to work with new lineups and tried to maximize our strengths and minimize our weaknesses.  We fell just short of winning our second set due to mental errors.  Overall, this was a very tough loss for us, but we need to learn from this defeat and come back with more confidence and composure."
 
The Swords move to 5-9 (2-4 PWC) with the defeat. Holy Names improves to 5-9 (3-2 PWC). Chaminade is back in action on October 2nd as the Swords head to Belmont, CA to take on NDNU.  First serve is set for 7:00 PM PT.
