CUH WVB: Chaminade Runs Into Tough Western Oregon Outfit, Falls 3-0

Spring leads CUH with 12 kills

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Silverswords took on a team with a lot of momentum in the Wolves of Western Oregon tonight in McCabe Gym and fell in three sets (20-25, 22-25 and 16-25).
 
The Swords looked solid early, leading midway through the first set at 16-15 after a kill by freshman Reigna Johnson (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton). The Wolves answered and prevailed in set one 25-20, using a late run to earn the win.  Chaminade battled in set two, but could not pull out the set, falling 25-22. The Wolves closed out Chaminade with a 25-16 final set victory.
 
Chaminade struggled offensively, hitting .152 on the match, while Western Oregon hit .255 for the match.  Freshman outside hitter Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) led the way for Chaminade with 12 kills.   
 
Junior Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/Robertson) led the Swords with 25 assists, while
junior Crystal Powell (Honolulu HI/Word of Life) added 7 kills for CUH. Freshman Brenda Walker (Honolulu, HI/McKinley) led the Swords with 19 digs on the match.
 
The Wolves were led by Krissi Kemper and Danielle Reese with 11 kills each. The match was the fourth match for Chaminade against GNAC opponents so far through two weeks of the season. 
 
The Swords fall to 2-4 (0-0 PWC) with the loss. The Wolves improve to 5-1. Chaminade is back in action on Saturday night as the Swords take on St. Martin's.  First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT.
