MSOC: Swords Shut Out By Red Storm

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Chaminade men's soccer team remained winless in 2013 after falling to Dixie State, 5-0, on Monday at Hansen Stadium.
 
The Silverswords fell to 0-6 and 0-2 in the PacWest while the Red Storm improved to 2-4-2 and 1-3-1. The five goals allowed by the Swords is a season-high.
 
The Red Storm opened the scoring in the 30th minute when Erik Shallenberger got the ball, weaved between two defenders and got past CUH goalkeeper Nic Jetter for an uncontested goal.
 
Dixie State made it 2-0 in the 41st minute when David Stirland dribbled down the right side, firing a shot past a sliding Jetter.
 
The Red Storm added to the scoreboard just one minute into the second half on a goal off a free kick by Sean Jenne from 25 feet away, making it 3-0. Dixie State later added two more second half goals as insurance.
 
The Swords attempted five shots, two on goal while the Red Storm attempted a whopping 31 shots, 13 on goal. Dixie State also attempted more corner kicks, 8-1.
 
The Swords' road trip continues on Thursday when they face Point Loma in San Diego, Calif., at 3:30 p.m. PDT.
