HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team battled valiantly, but in the end, could not overcome Azusa Pacific University, dropping a 3-0 Pacific West Conference decision Thursday at Saint Louis Field.
The Silverswords, playing short-handed in the game, played scrappy ball against the PacWest's preseason favorite to win the conference, despite allowing 26 Cougar shots.
Chaminade fell to 2-7 on the season and 2-4 in the PacWest. APU improved to 3-6-1 and 1-2-1.

Lauren Ishii made 11 saves on the day. Her counterpart, Zoey Bauman, earned her first win of the season.

The Cougars led 2-0 at the half on goals by Amanda Hardy and Darby Emmons with Alyx Williams assisting on both. Katelyn Rogers added APU's final goal at the 62
nd minute of the second half.
Last season, Chaminade lost 5-0 at Azusa Pacific and trailed 3-0 at the half.
The Silverswords will wrap up their four-game home stand on Saturday against Point Loma. Kickoff at Saint Louis Field is set for 3 p.m.
