Box Score HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team opened the 2014 season Saturday, but could not overcome Western Oregon, falling 1-0 at Saint Louis Field.
The Wolves got the game's only goal during a wild sequence at the 79
th minute. A pass from Taylor Higa went to a scrum in front of the goal and Amanda Rose Johnson benefitted, tapping in the ball into the net past 'Swords goalkeeper

The Wolves (2-2) had an opportunity to tack on an insurance goal, but Ishii made a diving stop of Higa's breakaway in the 83
rd minute.
In a relatively clean game with no cards assessed, the Silverswords (0-1) were outshot by the Wolves, 11-7, but both Ishii and WOU keeper Hillary Lutz both had four saves. Lutz, making her first start of the season, is 1-0 while Ishii is 0-1.
Shannon Wright attempted two shots on goal for CUH while
Lauren Uehara and
Twyla Hamasaki had one each.
The 'Swords are next in action on Tuesday as they travel to Kaneohe to face Hawai'i Pacific in a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
