’Swords Drop 2-1 Decision at CS East Bay

Box Score HEYWARD, Calif.  – The Chaminade University men's soccer team dropped its final non-conference game of the season Saturday, falling to Cal State East Bay, 2-1, at Pioneer Stadium.

Lukas Pousset accounted for the lone Silverswords goal, coming at the 28th minute after the Pioneers had taken a 1-0 just 12 minutes in.

A through-ball by Colton Gallt got to Austin Bush, whose cross found Pousset, who headed the ball past CSUBE netminder Adrian Topete to knot the game at 1. It was Pousset's first goal of the year and the first assists of the season for Gallt and Bush.

But the Pioneers got the winner on Michael Paiva's goal off a rebound in the 48th minute. From there, Cal State East Bay (3-2-1) held off a flurry of shot attempts and corner kicks by Chaminade (1-3) to hang on for the win.

'Swords keeper Bernd Buescheroff took the loss, but made three saves. Topete also made three saves in picking up the win.

The 'Swords attempted eight shots on the night, three by Dayton Sato, while the Pioneers took 19. Both teams attempted three corner kicks.

The Silverswords open Pacific West Conference action Tuesday at Notre Dame de Namur.
