Spring Reaches Milestone in ’Swords Win

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team got back on the winning track Friday, defeating Point Loma 25-23, 24-26, 25-12, 25-15 at McCabe Gym.
 
Emma Tecklenburg put down a match-high 14 kills while Kim Spring reached a career milestone. Needing 12 kills entering the match to reach 1,000 in her career, the senior from Bern, Switzerland got exact that with a successful spike in the fourth set. Spring became only the sixth player in school history to reach the millennium mark.
 
Meanwhile Cassie Rushlow put down 11 kills while Kira Long tied her season best with 10.
 
For the second straight match, Ku`ulei Lynch provided a lift off the bench with six kills and a season-high six total blocks while Daisia LaBrie added nine kills. And while Natashya Enos led the 'Swords with 25 assists, Skyler Curry tallied her second straight double-double with a career-tying 24 assists and a career-high 13 digs. Waihilo Chartrand led Chaminade with 19 digs.
 
The Silverswords improved to 10-10 overall and 4-7 in the Pacific West Conference while the Sea Lions fell to 7-12 and 5-5.
 
Brianna Sizemore led PLNU with 12 kills.
 
Chaminade held sizeable leads in nearly every statistical category including kills (65-37), assists (60-36), blocks (8-3), service aces (7-2) and digs (62-60). The Silverswords also hit a whopping .427 (19 kills, four errors, 75 attacks) in Sets 3 and 4.
 
The Silverswords will face Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday at McCabe Gym. Live streaming audio coverage will be available on GoSwords.com.
