HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team ended the week on a high note, defeating Notre Dame de Namur 19-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-20, Saturday at McCabe Gym.
Kim Spring continued her weekend to remember. Just 24 hours after becoming only the sixth player in school history to reach 1,000 kills, the senior outside hitter set career highs with 22 kills and 18 digs while hitting .450 for the match and adding a pair of service aces. She out-dueled the Argonauts' Bianca Alvarez, who came into the match as the nation's third-leading attacker at 4.94 kills per set. Alvarez led NDNU with 20 kills.
But Spring wasn't the only Silversword who excelled.
Daisia LaBrie had 11 kills and five blocks, moving her into sixth in the program's career blocking list with 190.
Cassie Rushlow had nine kills against NDNU, moving her into eighth in the program's kill list with 783. And
Ku`ulei Lynch notched her second consecutive six-block evening, vaulting her into the program's top-10 blocking list with 178.
Meanwhile
Kira Long tallied her third straight match of 10 kills while establishing a career-high six blocks and
Emma Tecklenburg put down seven kills along with eight digs.
Natashya Enos and
Skyler Curry combined for 50 assists while
Waihilo Chartrand had 14 digs and two aces.
Chaminade improved to 11-10 overall and 5-7 in the Pacific West Conference while the Argos fell to 6-15 and 4-9.
After playing three matches in four days, the Silverswords will get the next six days off and return to the floor Friday when they host PacWest-leading California Baptist at McCabe Gym. Live streaming audio will be available on GoSwords.com.
