HONOLULU –Chaminade University athletics might be at an all-time high. Just over 24 hours after the women's soccer team took down Pacific West Conference-leading Point Loma, the Silverswords women's volleyball team followed suit, as they dropped league-leading California Baptist, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23, Friday at McCabe Gym.
Kim Spring continued to play at a blistering level, putting down a team-high 18 kills while hitting .472, the highest hitting percentage of her career.
Daisia LaBrie added 10 kills with a .529 percentage.
Emma Tecklenburg and
Cassie Rushlow had nine kills each.
The Lancers, who was the first team listed in the "also receiving votes" category in the AVCA Top-25 Poll entering the week, were led by Lauren Hackett's 21 kills while Jenna Perry, the reigning PacWest Player of the Week, had 13 kills but was held to a .179 percentage. Perry came into the match hitting .352 on the season, third in the conference.
LaBrie also had seven total blocks while Rushlow had four as Chaminade out-blocked CBU, the second-best blocking team in the conference, 8-5.
Natashya Enos tallied a double-double with 26 assists and 11 digs while
Skyler Curry added 19 assists.
Waihilo Chartrand had a team-best 15 digs and three service aces. Enos had two aces to give her 81 in her career which moved her into a ninth-place tie with Hinano Warfield (1995-99).
The 'Swords improved to 12-10 overall and 6-7 in the PacWest as they extended their winning streak to three. It was also Chaminade's first win over California Baptist as a member of the PacWest after having dropped the previous seven meetings.
The loss snapped the Lancers' four-match winning streak and also dropped them out of first place with a 10-2 PacWest mark and 15-5 overall.
