Women’s Soccer Pushes APU on Senior Day

HONOLULU – Two days after dropping Point Loma from the top of the Pacific West Conference mountain, the Chaminade University women's soccer team had a chance to repeat their performance against new conference leader Azusa Pacific.

The Silverswords gave the Cougars all they could handle before a late APU goal handed them a 1-0 defeat Saturday at Saint Louis Field in their home finale.

Victoria Kovatch scored off a Kelsey Bushman pass in the 75th minute to keep the Cougars in first place with 29 points. APU improved to 11-3-3 overall and 9-1-2 in the PacWest.

Chaminade fell to 3-10-1 and 3-7-1. Despite the loss, the 'Swords demonstrated first-half aggressiveness, outshooting APU 8-6.

Caitlin Tatemichi took five shots, three of which were on goal. Nicole Nishiki had two tries at the net with one being on goal. Bianca Gonzales and Kelli Fryxell each attempted one shot.
