HONOLULU – Two days after dropping Point Loma from the top of the Pacific West Conference mountain, the Chaminade University women's soccer team had a chance to repeat their performance against new conference leader Azusa Pacific.
The Silverswords gave the Cougars all they could handle before a late APU goal handed them a 1-0 defeat Saturday at Saint Louis Field in their home finale.
Victoria Kovatch scored off a Kelsey Bushman pass in the 75
th minute to keep the Cougars in first place with 29 points. APU improved to 11-3-3 overall and 9-1-2 in the PacWest.
Chaminade fell to 3-10-1 and 3-7-1. Despite the loss, the 'Swords demonstrated first-half aggressiveness, outshooting APU 8-6.
Caitlin Tatemichi took five shots, three of which were on goal.
Nicole Nishiki had two tries at the net with one being on goal.

Kelli Fryxell each attempted one shot.

Brandee Lane made six saves in taking the loss while Sarah Klinkenberg made four stops for the Cougars.
The game also marked the final home contests for Silversword seniors

Marissa Liberato and
Lauren Uehara.
The 'Swords will wrap up the season next week on the Mainland. They'll be at Dominican on Thursday then end the year next Saturday at Notre Dame de Namur.
