LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Biola on a cool Halloween night Thursday at Al Barbour Field.
After 77 minutes of scoreless ball, the Eagles broke through with a Jack MacDonald goal in the 78th minute. The Silverswords twice nearly squared the game in the waning minutes but a shot and header were both denied at the net by Biola keeper JD Gunn.
Chaminade fell to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the Pacific West Conference. Biola improved to 6-5-3 and 4-2-1.
Micah Mokulehua (Waimanalo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kaiser) and
Colin Roemer (Cologne, Germany/Barton CC/Wirtschaftsgymnasium Westerburg HS) attempted two shots each, both team highs.
Curtis Coburn (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach),
Davin Garma (Kalaheo, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) and
Taka Kosins (Tokyo, Japan/Colorado Mesa/Kalani HS) also had looks at the Biola goal.
Michael Stafford (Honolulu/Iowa Western CC/Kalani HS) had five saves for Chaminade.
The Silverswords will wrap up the road trip Saturday against No. 1 Azusa Pacific. It will be the program's first-ever game against a No. 1 nationally-ranked team.
