Dressler Earns Player of the Week Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University guard Grant Dressler (Las Vegas/Sacramento State/Palo Verde HS) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It is his third player of the week award and his fourth overall.

The senior averaged 26.7 points and 9.7 rebounds with two double-doubles in helping to lead the Silverswords to a pair of wins in Southern California last week. He also dropped 13 of his 21 3-pointer attempts including two clutch shots with one game-winner and another which forced overtime.

At Azusa Pacific last Tuesday, Dressler went for 29 points and a season-high 11 rebounds with five assists and two steals. His fifth 3-pointer of the game came with 8.3 seconds left to play which lifted the 'Swords to a 77-75 win.

After a 23-point, eight-board effort in a victory at Biola, Dressler had 28 points and 10 rebounds at Concordia Irvine, the PacWest's second-place team. He also buried a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left which forced overtime.

Dressler is second in the PacWest in scoring at 19.4 points per game and averages a conference-leading 3.0 triples per game. His 3-point percentage of 44.3 also ranks 23rd nationally.

The other conference award winners are Concordia's Brian Chambers (Defender) and Biola's Alex Wright (Freshman).

The Silverswords (20-6, 14-6 PacWest) wrap up the regular season this week with two critical games against Notre Dame de Namur at home on Thursday and at Hawai'i Hilo on Saturday. They are tied in the conference standings with Azusa Pacific but hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their season sweep of current No. 5 Holy Names. Two wins combined with one Cougars loss this week would give the 'Swords the No. 3 seed in next week's PacWest Tournament in San Rafael, Calif.

Thursday's contest is the home finale where Dressler, Nicholas Anderson (Anaheim, Calif./Fullerton College/Canyon HS), Erik Scheive (Marysville, Calif./Yuba College/Marysville HS) and Masa Swain (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine HS) will be honored.

Hawai'i Pacific Health is the Aloha Senior Night game sponsor and will be having giveaways throughout the game and are encouraging fans to wear pink for both the men's and women's games.
