WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Monday opened the first round of the Dennis Rose Invitational in 12th-place with a 319 at the par-70, 6,566-yard Waikoloa Beach Course on the Big Island, the final tournament of the non-championship fall season.
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) shot a team-low 8-over-par 78, putting him in a tie for 52nd overall.
Ryan Shields Vega (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake) and
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) are both two shots back with a 10-over 80s while
Emerson Gardner (Holladay, Utah/Cottonwood) has an 81.
Ryan Netelbeek (Salt Lake City/Cottonwood) rounds out the 'Swords with an 83.
Cal State San Bernardino and Western New Mexico are the first round team leaders at even-par 280. Brian Nielsen of CSUSB is the first round individual leader with a 4-under 66.
The second round of the 54-hole event is Tuesday with first tee times at 7:30 a.m.
