IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's basketball is picked to finish fourth in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, released Tuesday.
The Silverswords garnered 84 points, just two behind Azusa Pacific, which was picked third.
Point Loma was chosen as the coaches' preseason pick to win the PacWest, picking up five first-place votes and 137 points. Biola received one more first-place vote and was selected second with 131 points.
The 'Swords'
Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) was voted to the PacWest All-Preseason Team. Amaral-Artharee was Chaminade's top scorer a year ago, averaging 14.3 points per game and was one of the PacWest's top 3-point shooters, averaging 2.2 per game which was tied for sixth.
Chaminade opens their season Monday with an exhibition game at Division I Hawai'i at the Stan Sheriff Center with a tipoff time set for 7 p.m. UH has not yet been approved for fans to attend basketball but a decision is pending. If approved before Monday, Chaminade will have a limited allotment on hand.
The Silverswords open the season on Saturday, Nov. 13 with the PacWest/GNAC Challenge against the University of Alaska at McCabe Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Hawai'i Pacific University and Alaska Anchorage will open the Challenge at 1 p.m. The 'Swords face the Seawolves on Sunday, Nov. 14, also at 3 p.m.
