KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the sixth consecutive year, the Chaminade University men's basketball team is a recipient of the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award.
The Silverswords posted a team grade-point average of 3.486 during the 2020-21 academic year, the team's highest in the six years they have been recognized. To earn the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, teams must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better, counting all team members who were on the roster during the 2020-21 academic year.
Four 'Swords were also honored by the NABC for individual academic achievements.
Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic),
Bill Awet (Sydney, Australia/SIU Edwardsville/Victory Rock, Fla., Prep),
Garrett Seagren (Oakland, Neb./Oakland-Craig) and
Kobe Young (Honolulu/Kamehameha-Kapalama) were named to the NABC Honors Court.
To qualify for the NABC Honors Court, individuals must be a junior or senior academically, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year, have been at their current institution for one year and the institution must be an NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA Division I institution with a NABC member coach.
