NORMAN, Okla. – Chaminade University men's golfer
Jeren Nishimoto (Honolulu/Kaiser) was named a 2020-21 Srixon/Cleveland Golf Division II All-America Scholar, announced Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Nishimoto is the program's first-ever Srixon/Cleveland Golf Scholar All-American and was the only golfer from Hawai'i named to the list.
During the '21-22 season as a fifth-year graduate student who used a season-of-competition waiver, Nishimoto posted a career-low 77.30 shots per round and sharing medalist honors – his second career tournament win – during a dual match against Hawai'i Pacific University on Nov. 10. He owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 and during this past academic term, was enrolled as a graduate student.
Nishimoto ended his career fourth in the school's all-time scoring average list at 78.03, and is the career leader in birdies (140), counting scores (97.1 percent) and co-leads in eagles (3).
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, a golfer must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in Division II, participate in 40 percent of the team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20.
