HONOLULU – Chaminade University Athletics announced Wednesday that fans will not be allowed to attend Silverswords' home athletic contests in the coming weeks, starting with the women's volleyball team's season-opening Hawai'i Challenge tournament this Saturday at McCabe Gymnasium.
The recent surge in COVID-19 cases and dwindling hospital capacity were factors in the decision by City and County of Honolulu officials to not allow fans at any sporting events.
Fans will also not be permitted at the men's soccer opener against Hawai'i Pacific University on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Saint Louis Field.
To accommodate fans, Chaminade will make available streaming video of all women's volleyball matches and men's and women's soccer games free of charge for the second straight year.
A decision on admitting fans to CUH athletic events will be re-evaluated based on updated advisories from state and city officials.
