IRVINE, Calif. – The Pacific West Conference released its cross country preseason coaches poll on Monday with Chaminade University men's team picked eighth and the women's squad 10th.
Biola was chosen by the coaches as the top team on the men's side while Academy of Art was voted as the women's top squad in the PacWest.
The Silversword men feature three runners who competed during the spring season, paced by
Owen Daugherty (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) who was the team's top finisher in all three races. Also back are PacWest Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Elijah Bernardo-Flores (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) and
Conor McMahon (Pacific, Calif./Archbishop Riordan).
Josiah Rodrigues (Honoka'a, Hawai'i/Honoka'a) and
Peter Jan Ramos (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Waipahu) also return after having sat out the spring while the team welcomes
Ben Salinas (Highland, Ind./Highland), who transferred from Western Colorado University, which finished ranked No. 2 in the Division II national poll.
On the ladies side, the 'Swords do not have any returnees from the spring but the good news is two members from 2019 are back in
Montserrat Lanfranco (Honolulu/Roosevelt) and
Eri Leong (Las Vegas/SECTA).
Georgeanna Flook (Yardley, Pa./Pennsburg), who was also on the '19 team but sat out that year, also returns.
Both teams are scheduled to open the season Saturday at the University of Hawai'i Manoa Big Wave Invitational at the Kahuku Golf Course.
