WAHIAWA, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's cross country team came in 10th at the Pacific West Conference Championship on Saturday, held at the Hawai'i Country Club.
The Silverswords scored 280 points in the 8-kilometer event.
Kalama Francisco (Pahoa, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Hawai'i), the team's top finisher in each of the first four events, was not surprisingly the first 'Sword to break the tape, coming in 58th overall with a time of 29 minutes, 37.0 seconds.
Anthony John Bergancia (Saipan, Northern Marianas Islands/Marianas) was Chaminade's second finisher at 31:28.1 with
Anthony Fontanez (Belmar, N.J./St. Rose) clocking in at 34:40.6.
James Carter (Raleigh, Miss./Harrison Central) was next at 36:11.4 followed by
Dyson Murakami (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kalani) at 36:29.2.
Completing the CUH contingent was
Nate Mendez (Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kailua) at 36:49.6 and
Isaiah Taylor (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) at 38:23.3.
Biola won the PacWest Championship, its first since 2022, with 35 points while Fresno Pacific was the runner-up with 53. The PacWest men's individual champion was Melt Von Molendorff of Biola at 24:33.6 with CUI's Noah Plaza as the runner up at 24:44.4.
