DuBourdieu Finishes Under Par as Men’s Golf Wraps HPU Shootout

WAHIAWA, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team concluded the Hawai'i Pacific University Sharks Shootout Wednesday with a two-day total of 610 at the 7,019-yard, par-72 Leilehua Golf Course.
 
The Silverswords shot a second-round 306 to finish 16th overall in the tournament, just nine shots behind Northwest Nazarene.
 
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) birdied four of his final five holes, finishing the second round at 1-under-par 71. The freshman finished tied for 23rd overall at 1-under 143. DuBourdieu is the first 'Swords' golfer to finish under par after 36 holes since Michael Milton and Justin Taparra both accomplished the feat in the 2017 Pacific West Conference Championships.
 
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) and Kal O'Brien (Mackinaw City, Mich./Marymount California Univ./Mackinaw City HS) both completed the Shootout at 10-over 154. O'Brien carded a 2-over 74 in the second round while Peterson shot a 79.
 
Jet Magsanide (Ewa Beach, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Campbell) shot an 83 on Wednesday to finish the tournament at 160 while Matt Monaghan (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) shot a final round 82 and finished at 162.
 
Among Chaminade's individual golfers (whose scores did not count towards the team total), Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) followed his first round score of 74 with a 75 and finished at 149, the second-lowest score by a Silversword in the tournament.
 
Robbie Kia (Honolulu/Mililani) shot 79 in the final round, finishing with a 157 while Ro Razavi (O'Fallon, Mo./Liberty) had an eight-shot improvement with a 78 on Wednesday for a total of 164. Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) rounded out the Silverswords at 198.
 
Chico State and Stanislaus State both finished the tournament tied at 558. CSUC was crowned the team champion based on the lowest score of its No. 5 finishers.
 
Individually, Chico's Tyler Ashman and Stan State's Chris Ebster were tied at 135 to share medalist honors after 36 holes. Ebster was named individual champion based on scoring via the highest handicap hole, birding the 18th in the final round while Ashman parred it.
 
The Silverswords will head to the Big Island to participate in the Dennis Rose Invitational at the Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf Course which starts this Friday. Shotgun start tee times will be at 7:30 a.m.
