WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Saturday concluded their non-championship fall season in the Dennis Rose Invitational at the 6,566-yard, par-70 Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf Course.
The Silverswords shot a final round 309 to complete the tournament at 627 to finish 16th overall, 14 shots behind Northwest Nazarene.
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) shot a final round 7-over-par 77 to finish as Chaminade's low scorer at 10-over 150. After birding his opening hole at the par-4 12th, DuBourdieu struggled with quadruple bogeys on the next two. However, the freshman settled down shooting even-par in the final 14 holes.
Matt Monaghan (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) finished at 156 after shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round, the team's low round score. He was aided by three birdies, all coming in a span of four holes in the course's front nine.
Like Monaghan,
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) also had the team's low Saturday score with a 73 and finished at 159. It was a 13-shot improvement for Alexander, the third-best among the field.
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) shot an 85 in the final round for a total of 165 while
Kal O'Brien (Mackinaw City, Mich./Marymount California Univ./Mackinaw City HS) completed the tournament at 168 after his final round 86.
Among Chaminade's individuals,
Robbie Kia (Honolulu/Mililani) had a 77 and finished with a 153.
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) finished the tournament at 184 after carding an 84 in the final round. His 16-shot improvement was the second-best in the tournament.
Cal State San Marcos and the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs finished tied for the team title at 565 and were declared co-champions. Stanislaus State's Nathan Jetton was the individual medalist at 5-under 135.
The Silverswords resume action in the spring which is also their championship season.
