Amaral-Artharee, McIntire Named All-PacWest

3/1/2022 3:33:00 PM

IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University guard Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) and forward Zach McIntire (Delaware, Ohio/Mercyhurst University/Delaware Hayes HS) were named Tuesday to the All-Pacific West Conference Third Team in a vote taken by the conference coaches.

Amaral-Artharee finished the regular season seventh in the PacWest in scoring at a 15.3 points per game clip and fifth in 3-pointers per game at 2.2 per outing. The redshirt sophomore was also among conference leaders in field goal percentage (37.8) and was third in free throw percentage (84.4). It is Amaral-Artharee's second all-conference postseason award after being selected to the All-PacWest Hawai'i Team last season. He was also the 2020 PacWest Freshman of the Year.

McIntire, a graduate transfer after a four-year career at fellow Division II institution Mercyhurst, was the Silverswords' No. 2 scorer at 12.4 ppg while posting 5.4 rebounds per game. A 41 percent shooter on the year, McIntire was also a clutch performer with go-ahead scores against Concordia University Irvine (Dec. 1) and Holy Names (Jan. 4).

Point Loma's Kaden Anderson repeated as the PacWest Player of the Year while Academy of Art had two honorees with Klay Brown (Defender) and Scott Waterman (Coach). Jelani Watson-Gayle of Fresno Pacific was the Newcomer of the Year while Hawai'i Hilo's Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones was the Freshman of the Year (Tait-Jones is using his year-of-eligibility waiver to gain his freshman year of 2020-21 back).

Amaral-Artharee, McIntire and the rest of the Silverswords will be facing regular season champion Point Loma on Wednesday in the opening round of the PacWest Championships in Fresno. The teams split their regular season meeting with Chaminade defeating PLNU in San Diego on Jan. 20 to start its Southern California road trip with the Sea Lions winning the rematch on the same floor nine days later. Tipoff is set for 7:15 p.m. local time and 5:15 p.m. Hawaiian Standard.

Tickets will only be available online by clicking here. There will be no same-day walkup purchases at the Fresno Pacific Special Event Center box office. Fans are also required to wear masks at all times while indoors.

All 14 men's and women's games of the tournament will be video streamed free.
