LIVERMORE, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team shot a 327 in Monday's first round of the Northwest Nazarene Invitational at the par-72 Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
The Silverswords are 16th and are just six shots back of Dominican University of California.
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) fired a 4-over-par 76 and is tied for 29th in the field.
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) carded an 8-over 80 followed by
Josh Lavallee (Haverhill, Mass./Central Catholic) at 84.
Ryan Shields Vega (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake) shot an 87 with
Seven Birks (Houston/IMG Academy) rounding out Chaminade's team with a 90.
Montana State Billings is the first round team leader at 296, leading Cal State East Bay by a single shot.
Keita Okada of Hawai'i Pacific University is the first round leader at 69 and has a two-shot lead over MSUB's Riley Kaercher and Academy of Art's Anson Pan.
Tuesday's second and final round gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Pacific time.
