LIVERMORE, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team concluded the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks Invitational in 16th with a 641 after Tuesday's final round at the par-72, 6,958-yard Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
The Silverswords shot a second-round 314 and finished 15 shots behind Dominican University of California.
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) was the 'Swords' low scorer of the tournament with an 11-over-par 155 after 7-over 79 in the final 18 holes. Peterson was a shot better than
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) who carded four birdies en-route to a 76, the team's lowest Tuesday score.
Seven Birks (Houston/IMG Academy) had a 13-shot improvement from his first round score with a 77 to finish the 36-hole tournament with a 167.
Ryan Shields Vega (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake) had an 82 in his final round for a two-day total of 169.
Cal State East Bay captured the team title at 583, four shots ahead of Cal State San Bernardino. Keita Okada of Hawai'i Pacific University was the individual medalist with a 6-under 138. CSU East Bay's Fraser Owenson was the runner-up at 141.
The Silverswords will remain in Northern California for their next tournament, the Tim Tierney Shootout at the Corica Park South Course in Alameda, Calif., which gets underway next Monday.
