Men’s Golf Wraps Season-Opening Tournament

DuPONT, Wash. – The Chaminade University men's golf team concluded their first ever mainland fall tournament Saturday with a 14th-place showing at the Saint Martin's University Bishop Invitational at the par-72, 6,986-yard Home Course.
 
The Silverswords shot a final round 307, just eight shots behind Pacific Lutheran. The team's 20-shot improvement from Friday's score was the best second-day improvement of any team in the field.
 
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) fired an even-par 72 in his final round, giving him a two-day total of 6-over 149, tying him for 29th overall. The senior finished the tournament strong with birdies on two of his final three holes.
 
Matt Monaghan (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) shot a final round 7-over 79 to finish with a two-round total of 159 while Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) and Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) both shot 6-over 78 on Saturday and had identical totals of 163.
 
Kal O'Brien (MacKinaw City, Mich./Marymount California Univ./Mackinaw City HS) shot an 82 for a total of 169.
 
Simon Fraser won the team title with a 569, two shots better than runner-up Western Washington.
 
SFU's Aidan Goodfellow was the individual medalist with a 6-under 138. Ryan Ho of WWU and first-round leader Dawson Strobel of Montana State Billings were the co-runners-up at 139.
 
The Silverswords will remain in Washington state to participate in the 54-hole Western Washington Invitational at the par-72 Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Washington. The first two rounds will be on Monday followed by the 18-hole finale on Tuesday.
