GOLETA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team wrapped up their first fall non-championship season tournament Tuesday with a 615 at the Westmont Invitational at the par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club.
The Silverswords came in fourth in the field, finishing just six shots behind Occidental College. They posted a second-round score of 302, the second-lowest team round of the afternoon with all five 'Swords breaking 80. Host Westmont College won the team title with a 591.
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) birdied the final two holes for a final round even-par 72, allowing him to finish in a three-way tie for fourth at 2-over 146, just six shots behind medalist Peyton Hendricks of Westmont.
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) and
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) both shot 5-over in the final round, carding two-round totals of 155, tying for them for 16th place.
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) shot a 4-over in the second round, finishing with a 36-hole total of 159 while
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) shot a 6-over and finished at 162.
The Silverswords will return to the islands and compete in the Hawai'i Tri-Match starting Saturday at the Mauna Lani Golf Course on the Big Island, the first of three 18-hole rounds at the venue. Mauna Lani will also serve as the site for the 2024 Pacific West Conference Men's and Women's Golf Championships in April.
