GOLETA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Monday opened their non-championship fall season with a fourth-place showing at the Westmont Invitational at the par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club.
The Silverswords shot 313 in the opening round and trail third-place Occidental College by eight shots. Academy of Art is the opening-round team leader with a 290.
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep), whose last competitive round was the 2023 Pacific West Conference Championships where he was among the leaders, picked up where he left off, firing a 2-over-par 74, tying him for eighth overall. The sophomore is just six shots behind opening-round leader Peyton Hendricks of host Westmont College.
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) and
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) are both at 6-over and tied for 18th.
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) and
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) complete the 'Swords' group with an 83 and 84, respectively.
The Silverswords will wrap up the tournament in Tuesday's final round.
