IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University guard
Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) was voted to the Pacific West Conference Preseason Team, as voted by the conference coaches.
The red-shirt senior is a three-time All-PacWest selection including the shortened 2021 season where all-conference teams were selected by the region pods. He was also the PacWest's Freshman of the Year in 2019-20.
Amaral-Artharee has led the Silverswords in scoring each of the last three seasons and in 2022-23, averaged a career-best 16.1 points per game. He ranked among PacWest leaders in scoring, field goal percentage (45.1), 3-point percentage (39.1), 3-point field goal per game (2.0) and free throw percentage (84.0).
He is entering his fifth playing season, using his season-of-competition waiver for another year of eligibility.
Ken West of Azusa Pacific was selected as the PacWest Preseason Player of the Year. Joining Amaral-Artharee on the all-preseason team are Point Loma's Luke Haupt, Hawai'i Hilo's Carlos Ramsey, Jr., Biola's Daniel Esparza and Academy of Art's Latreell Williams.
In the PacWest Preseason Coaches Poll released last weekend, the Silverswords were picked to finish sixth. Azusa Pacific was chosen to win the conference followed by Academy of Art, UH Hilo with Biola and Point Loma selected at a tie for fifth.
The Silverswords will open their season on Friday, Nov. 10 in the PacWest/GNAC Challenge in Fairbanks, Alaska, where they will face the University of Alaska Anchorage.
