KANSAS CITY – The Chaminade University men's basketball team on Thursday was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for academic excellence.
The Silverswords were honored with the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award which goes to programs who have team grade-point averages of 3.0 and higher during the 2022-23 academic calendar. It marks the eighth straight year the team has received the award.
Eight 'Swords were also honored individually with the NABC Honors Court award.
Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic),
Scott Ator (Murphy, Texas/College of the Sequoias/Wylie HS),
Dorian Harris (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos College/Cerritos HS),
Braden Olsen (West Linn, Ore./Gannon University/West Linn HS),
Patrick Renane (Havdrup, Denmark/Dublin, Calif., HS),
Jessiya Villa (Laurel, Md./University of Hawai'i/Kahuku HS, Hawai'i),
Raazhel Watkins (Concord, Calif./Sacramento State/College Park HS) and
Kobe Young (Honolulu/Kamehameha-Kapalama) were all recognized by the NABC for their scholastic work.
To attain the NABC Honors Court, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student during the 2022-23 year and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2 following the ending of the spring '23 semester with at least one coach as an active NABC member.
