7/25/2023 11:17:00 AM

LAHAINA, Maui, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's basketball team will face Kansas in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational opener on Monday, Nov. 20 at the Lahaina Civic Center. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU.

The Silverswords, who are making their 37th appearance in the tournament, are 0-4 all-time against the Jayhawks with the last meeting coming in 2019, a 93-63 KU win. That year was also the last time the 'Swords were on Maui. The 2021 tournament was held in Las Vegas.

Chaminade will face either Marquette or UCLA on Tuesday at either 12 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.

The other half of the bracket will see Tennessee facing Syracuse and Purdue, featuring national player of the year Zach Edey, against Gonzaga. The Maui Jim Maui Invitational championship is set for Wednesday, Nov. 22 on ESPN at 12 p.m.

The 'Swords return three starters including three-time Pacific West Conference selection Isaac Amaral-Artharee and PacWest Freshman of the Year Ross Reeves. Amaral-Artharee is entering his fifth playing season and has led the team in scoring the past three seasons. Reeves was among the conference leaders in scoring and 3-pointers.

Kansas, one of the most storied programs in the history of college basketball, returns Dajuan Harris, Jr., last season's Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. The Jayhawks have won four national championships, the last coming in 2022.

Chaminade is set to open its season on Nov. 10 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The remainder of their schedule will be released in August.
