IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University guard
Ross Reeves (Orem, Utah/Snow College/Orem HS) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week.
The redshirt sophomore totaled 50 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and five steals last week to help the Silverswords split their games against Dominican University of California and Hawai'i Pacific University. He converted on 51 percent of his shots and made 10 3-pointers.
In last Monday's overtime loss to the Penguins, Reeves had a season-high 30 points and tied his career-high with seven triples. Then in last Thursday's win over HPU, he added 20 points which included making a tough floater with seven seconds left to help force the Sharks to make a 3 to force overtime. He also had four assists in both games.
Reeves is averaging 14.4 points this season, ranking 11th in the PacWest while also leading the conference in assists at 4.1.
Academy of Art's Latrell Williams earned the Defender of the Week honor.
The Silverswords' McCabe Gymnasium home stand continues this week. Chaminade will look to avenge their most lopsided Division II loss of the season on Thursday, a 27-point defeat to Azusa Pacific on Jan. 6. They will also face two-time defending PacWest regular season champion Point Loma on Saturday where they look to end a five-game losing streak to the Sea Lions.
