Men’s Golf Concludes First Tourney in 7th

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Tuesday wrapped up their season-opening tournament with a two-round total of 617 at the Westmont Invitational at the par-72 Sandpiper Golf Course.
 
The Silverswords posted a final round 303 with host Westmont College winning its own event at 586.
 
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) fired a final-round 1-over-par 73 to finish in a tie for 10th overall at 5-over 149. Starting at the par-4 10th hold, the sophomore had a bogey-free front nine with a birdie at the par-5 15th.
 
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) struggled in the second round at 6-over and ended the tournament at 152.
 
After a 78 in his first round, Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) rebounded in the second 18 holes with a 3-over 75 with a final score of 154.
 
Matt Monaghan (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) had an eight shot improvement in Round 2 by shooting a 5-over 77, giving him a two-round total of 162.
 
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) rounded up the Chaminade group at 168.
 
The 'Swords return to the islands to continue their non-championship fall season this weekend at in the Hawai'i Triangular on the Big Island against their fellow island and Pacific West Conference foes, the University of Hawai'i Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific University. Saturday's Round 1 will be at Waikoloa Beach Course followed by the Sunday finale at the Mauna Lani Golf Course.
