Men’s Basketball, Last Earn First PacWest Weekly Honors

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chaminade University guard Jackson Last (Hurricane, Utah/Robert Morris University/Hurricane HS) on Monday was named the first Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award while the Silverswords earned Co-Team of the Week honors.
 
Last, a graduate transfer from Robert Morris University, combined for 49 points and 13 rebounds while shooting at a 58.6 percent clip from the field at this past week's PacWest/GNAC Challenge.
 
In his first game in a 'Swords uniform, the Hurricane, Utah, native hit 10-of-17 shots from the floor with four 3-pointers for 25 points and eight boards against the University of Alaska on Friday. Twenty-four hours later, Last went for 24 points against Alaska Anchorage, making 7-of-12 from the field with three more triples.
 
The Silverswords are one of five teams to earn the conference's team of the week award. Chaminade swept the PacWest/GNAC Challenge for the first time since 2021 and improved to 14-4 all-time in the nine years the event has been played with the Alaska programs.
 
Also being named teams of the week after 2-0 starts in the first full opening weekend of the regular season in Division II are Biola, Concordia University Irvine, Hawai'i Pacific and Point Loma.
 
The 'Swords face the Nanooks tonight in Friday's rematch will be their lone game of the week.
