For the second consecutive year, the Chaminade University cross country teams will have representation at the NCAA West Regional.
This year's regional will be held at Amend Park in Billings, Montana, and hosted by Montana State Billlings University, a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).
After a ninth-place finish at the Pacific West Conference Championships, Chaminade will have its women's team competing. And while the men will not be competing as a team, they are sending two members who will be running as individuals.
In the men's 10-kilometer race, the Silverswords will be represented by seniors
Conor McMahon (Pacific, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) and
Peter Jan Ramos (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Waipahu) who will likely be wrapping up their five-year racing careers.
In the women's 6-k race, the 'Swords have hopes that
Nikiji Dayse (Memphis, Tenn./Bartlett) and
Maria Steinke (Columbus, Ohio/University of Dayton/Bexley HS) can replicate their respective finishes at the PacWest Championships where they both finished in the top 35 percent.
The men's race begins at 7 a.m. Hawai'i time with the women's race at 8:15 a.m. HST.
